State of the Dark Fiber Union

Today we watch as the 45th President of the United States is inaugurated and instead of taking a step back to reflect on the state of our union, we are reflecting on the state of the dark fiber industry and what’s to come in the year ahead – after all, those tweets don’t share themselves.

Much like our great country, dark fiber has seen its fair share of highs and lows. The industry as a whole is seeing what only can be described as mild saturation, and analysts are predicting more consolidation. At Axiom, we operate within the New York City metro region, which strategically places us at the center of the connectivity universe, butAmerican Flag – not so strategically – also means we are surrounded by similar providers who offer similar services.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, because the truth remains that dark fiber is still in heavy demand and Axiom offers unparalleled service and custom solutions that knock out our competition. As you skim through your 2017 prediction reports, one thing is abundantly clear: data usage is growing exponentially. In the height of the Internet age, not only are financial institutions continuing to report dark fiber as a strategic asset, but government agencies and educational institutions are beginning to invest as well.

As verticals across the country bring their data online, bandwidth management and flexibility becomes essential to supporting heavy workloads. Dark fiber meets those bandwidth-intensive needs. With an ever-growing pool of applications on the rise, and increasingly simplified equipment management options, dark fiber infrastructure promises speed and control, as does Axiom Fiber.light-1502758_1280

For those service providers, enterprises both big and small, and public sector organizations looking to enhance network capabilities at its core, look no further than Axiom Fiber Networks’ dark fiber.

At Axiom Fiber we take a page out of American history and strive to be in business for the people, and that means offering our customers a strong network, without them having to relinquish any control. We pride ourselves on being able to mobilize quickly, change with the technology and adapt to any and all scenarios.

Axiom Fiber Networks: We’re More than Just a Vendor

John Trodden, SVP of Sales for Axiom Fiber Networks

Prospective customers often ask me, “Why Axiom? What makes you different?” My answer is always pretty straightforward – “Axiom Fiber is more than just a vendor, Axiom is your partner.”

When entering into a business discussion with Axiom Fiber, our top customers and prospects expect a partnership approach. Unlike a vendor, who simply sells products to companies in order to help them operate more efficiently, a partner sticks by your side. A partnership is just another word for relationship, and just like all valued and healthy relationships, partners seek to understand the needs of all parties involved and work to provide trusted advice, often putting the success and well-being of the other party at the forefront.

Axiom Fiber goes beyond simply being a vendor. Instead, we serve as a strategic partner to our customers, crafting customized solutions needed to support their business goals and, most importantly, delivering on our promises.

So how can you tell whether your service provider is a vendor or a partner? Here are a few key differences…

Vendor Vs. Parter

There’s no question that customers prefer a strategic partner to an approved vendor. Partners go beyond what’s expected and provide the solutions, plans and support to help businesses grow.

Axiom Fiber Networks Establishes Point of Presence (PoP) at Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan

New York, NY – June 24, 2015Axiom Fiber Networks, a telecommunications infrastructure services provider operating in the greater New York City metropolitan region, announces it has established a Point of Presence (PoP) at Sabey Data Centers’ Intergate.Manhattan facility located at 375 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan.

Axiom Fiber offers a dense, fiber-rich network and custom infrastructure services, purpose-built for wireless and wired applications. By establishing a PoP at Integrate.Manhattan, the company now offers Sabey customers seamless connectivity within a fully managed service offering. Axiom Fiber’s 20-mile, 864-fiber strand count core network uses the latest generation fiber and operates in close proximity to hundreds of bandwidth-intensive buildings throughout Manhattan.

“We look forward to offering Sabey customers fiber diversity on our reliable and purpose-built fiber network,” states Felipe Alvarez, Chief Executive Officer of Axiom Fiber Networks. “The Intergate.Manhattan facility is located in the heart of Lower Manhattan and co-locating there is an essential component of Axiom Fiber’s value proposition to service providers and enterprises needing secure and reliable connectivity in the area.”

Daniel Meltzer, Vice President of Sales & Leasing, Sabey Data Centers, says, “The consolidation trend in the dark fiber market is being reversed by a new generation of start-ups, such as Axiom. This is good for our customers, and our prospective customers, too. Like Axiom, Sabey Data Centers is targeting the larger content providers, financial services companies and telecom carriers in Lower Manhattan.”

Concurrently, Sabey Data Centers is creating a Constellation for its financial services/hedge fund customers, and Axiom Fiber plays a vital role in this business strategy. The Constellation is a combination of Sabey Data Centers’ assets and its business partners’ services expressly to assist financial services companies/hedge funds in the conduct of their business at 375 Pearl Street. By partnering with networks like Axiom Fiber, Sabey Data Centers is able to leverage each partner and asset within the Constellation, which comprises stock exchanges, market data providers, integrators, telecom carriers, broker dealers and investment banks.

The Axiom Take: NYSWA’s Wireless Forum 2015

The New York State Wireless Association held its 2015 Wireless Forum this past week in New York City, and Axiom Fiber Networks was not only in attendance, but a proud event sponsor. After a great event with lively discussions and prime networking opportunities, the Axiom Fiber team reflects on some of the highlights.

PCIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein and Crown Castle COO James Young discussed the drivers for continued bandwidth growth and its impact on wireless providers in their keynote speeches. Enabling wireless networks to accommodate the seemingly inexhaustible thirst for bandwidth boils down to three key enablers: Spectrum, Efficiency and Infrastructure. Additional Spectrum is costly and yields nominally minor gains with long implementation lead times. Similarly, Efficiency is a major element for improved connectivity but then again it has longer lead times – 4G should be done while 5G is emerging with expected speed bumps along the way. Infrastructure though, Adelstein says, serves as the fastest and most successful way to add capacity to a cellular network so that it can keep up with bandwidth demand and this means that the demand for fiber-based connectivity will skyrocket over the next few years. This is great news for Axiom Fiber, considering the company’s expansive, state-of-the-art dark fiber infrastructure.

Aside from the informative keynote speeches, the educational sessions gave important insight into various wireless topics including 5G and other emerging technologies; the evolution of WiFi, DAS and small cells; as well as the financial trends and forecasts for wireless services.

Next up for the Axiom Fiber team is Telecom Exchange, taking place in New York City on June 24. CEO Felipe Alvarez will be speaking on the wireless/wireline panel and is sure to bring a unique perspective on the ever-changing infrastructure needs for carriers. Stay tuned for another event highlights blog and a big thanks to NYSWA for a great event!
